THESE WATCHES CAN'T TELL TIME at Live Theatre Workshop

By Simon Ridley, Andrea Head, and Laura Bargfeld

THESE WATCHES CAN’T TELL TIME is an original script created by University of Arizona seniors in the theatre BA program. This story of shared memory follows two characters thrust into strange environments with nothing between them but their hazy, half-forgotten memories. Through learning about one another, they attempt to determine their relationship, but are thwarted as a seemingly omniscient silent “narrator” complicates their understanding of memory and the way these characters interact.

This original, collaboratively created story features home movies, music, and audience interaction, and aims to explore both the imagined barriers in our relationships and the unacknowledged barriers within our memories.

Simon Ridley (Man) - Simon is excited to be performing in this evening’s production of THESE WATCHES CAN’T TELL TIME. So it’s lucky that you came tonight and not some other night when Simon would have probably phoned it in. You might remember Simon from the carious performances of SHORT ATTENTION SPAN THEATRE or ADAPT both of which premiered right here at Live Theatre Workshop. Simon would like to take this opportunity to thank his relatives for allowing him to use embarrassing home videos of theirs as part of this production.

Andrea Head (Woman) - Andrea is happy to have been a part of the creation of THESE WATCHES CAN’T TELL TIME. Her previous experience in writing short sketches for SHORT ATTENTION SPAN THEATRE barely prepared her for the task of creating an entire play collaboratively. Andrea is a senior at the University of Arizona and she is excited to have had this opportunity before she graduates in May. Andrea would like to thank her beautiful family, any friends that actually come and see this, her amazing boyfriend, and Simon, he tries.

Laura Bargfeld (DEUS EX MACHINA) - Laura has thoroughly enjoyed writing THESE WATHES CAN’T TELL TIME with her fellow artists and is incredibly excited to be playing the role of DEUS EX MACHINA. She is currently a sophomore at the University of Arizona. Her writing has previously been seen in the Etcetera and Cincinnati Fringe Festival productions of SHORT ATTENTION SPAN THEATRE.
