Daniel "Sly" Slipetksy

Daniel "Sly" Slipetksy

Daniel “Sly” Slipetsky is a free-lancing jazz pianist/tuba player who has happily made Arizona his home since the summer of 1997, when he was twenty-three years young.  A native of Wilmington, Delaware, Sly began his piano studies at the ripe age of eight, and when he unexpectedly picked up the tuba at fourteen, his musical world expanded beyond what he could have imagined.  In between his high school years, he travelled up north to Maine to a summer camp for musicians known as Camp Encore/Coda, where he got his first taste of playing jazz and improvising.  He attended three universities (University of Delaware, University of Arizona, and Arizona State University) to further hone his musicality.  Since moving to the Grand Canyon State, Sly has been blessed to be able to make his living strictly as a performing musician:  everything from solo piano, to piano/vocal duos, to jazz combos, to jazz big bands, to salsa bands, to traditional 1920s New Orleans-type jazz, to pop/rock ensembles, to church praise bands, to theatrical accompaniment, to mock radio shows with a little bit of Looney Tunes voice acting.
